I would like to extend a warm welcome to Louise Wagstaff who joined DA just 2 weeks ago. She has been using UF for a number of years and I recall using one of her tutorials from UTube when I first started with the program. She told me she lost all her work and is having to start again. Many of us can relate to that!

Enchanting little shoots from Iago, who hails from Spain. A promise of Spring around the corner, though here in the UK my bulbs are already up amongst the mud and mire and providing fodder for my little rabbit and my chickens!
Strange Phenomenon in Knitting Format by
An amusing title from Gloria and an interesting piece. Now how does it go....K1 p2 ...... anyone got a pattern for whellies!
Mandelbulb rings points splash mosaik marmor stone by
Udo hails from Germany and has been with us for one year. He has made a whole series of these unusual pieces in MB3D. I am not even going to try with the title.
Intriguing designs reminiscent of UF.
Crazy Euler - MB3D - 456 by
If any of you have tried using a colour map on this type of MB3D fractal you will know how easy it is to overdo it and end up with something crazy. In this one Sinisa and Dana have managed to retain the distinctive shapes whilst adding lashings of colour. The central sphere on its little ornate legs is particularly eye catching.

Manipulation Challenge 5
Hello all
We had some lovely manips for challenge 4 and here are one from each of you

For Manipulation Challenge 5 we are going to try making tributes to the works of Eva Kmento - :iconXantipa2: who as you all know passed away a couple of months ago. Here are just a few from her wonderful gallery.
You can take your inspiration from any of her works. Use your own pieces as a base or look for free stock images (their are loads on D.A.)

Manipulation Challenge 3
For our 3rd Manipulation Challenge I thought you might like to work with the tutorials of a master manipulator ~rockgem (https://www.deviantart.com/rockgem) Gem has produced several tutorials on this subject and you can use any or all of them.
I picked this one because it has a minimum of shapes and eyes can of course be made as intricately as you like in UF. MB3D Photoshop, PSP etc. But, as stated above you can use any of her tutorials though the fractal content must be your own. The background can be a fractal scene or a free graphic but please give credit to the creator in your details if it isn't your own. You may also, of course, use
Christmas Challenge 2017
The results of the Christmas Challenge are in .
Joint best of show went to !Lieque (https://www.deviantart.com/lieque) and :iconGLO-HE: . Congratulations girls.
Runners Up were :iconShadoweddancer:, :iconVelvet--Glove: and :iconChetje:
We had quite a few entries so thank you all for contributing to our Christmas Challenge. There are too many to show you all the other entries. So one from each of you, your best entries in my humble opinion.
The judges were :iconGrannyOgg: and :iconGerda1946:
If I have left anyone off then please feel free to comment under the journal. I can add you in
It only remains for us to wish you all a wherever you are in the world
Decisions, Decisions
Rather than upload many versions of a fractal I thought I'd compose a journal.
These are the varieties of tweaks I made from the one set of pong parameters:-
The two above used new gradients made in MB3D and saved for future use.
Colour mapped and colour maps overlaying each other.
Mapped on output vector with low Rotation Bailout.
Formula added in first slot
Formula added in first slot, mapped on output vector with low Rotation Bailout and simple gradiated colour map made in Ultra Fractal.
Final Image chosen for pong chain. Parameters included.
Tips n Tricks: Using outside and inside colouring is rarely needed and slows the render
